Teachers should prepare the student for the student’s future, not for the teacher’s past.” — Richard Hamming
How do you prepare a student for the future? Mostly by focusing on skills that will always be useful, even as times change: logic, clear communication, diligence, etc.
Hello, parents and students! My name is Adrianna Daniels. To your students, I will be known as Ms. AD, Ms. Daniels, Coach AD or Coach Daniels. I am their English IV teacher. I’m looking forward to what we will accomplish together this year. Although I love teaching and English literature, my goal is to teach my students more than the subject matter. I want my students to be successful human beings overall. I love seeing my students learn to accept responsibility, push through when it’s hard, learn to care for others, and find their purpose in life. Through various readings, students will be able to connect to the larger world as a whole.
Some other facts you may be interested in knowing about me include: I am a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University! Axe ‘em Jacks! I majored in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. I received my Masters of Secondary Education from Texas A&M Commerce. I have taught the following grades: 7th, 9th, 10th, and 11th. Before teaching, I worked for a Gap Year program that prepared high school graduates to hold onto their faith and be successful when entering college and before that, I spent many years working as a Kounselor (the "k"s intentional) at Kids Across America. I love to read and write, which is clearly why I became an English teacher. I enjoy the small moments and life and spending time with my friends. I love playing basketball, working out, and learning new things or perfecting old ones. There are so many other pieces of information I could share about my life, but I prefer you learn them as your students learn them and we grow together.
Thank you for entrusting me with your child. Please make sure to sign up for the Remind, so you and I can have open communication about your child via text message and/or email. Also, go ahead and bookmark the class website. Please feel to contact me about any of your concerns. I’m looking forward to an amazing year of growth!

Artificial intelligence researcher Eliezer Yudkowsky on pushing yourself:
"If you never fail, you’re only trying things that are too easy and playing far below your level... If you can’t remember any time in the last six months when you failed, you aren’t trying to do difficult enough things."
